Review Of Ninja CPA Review [2024 Pros & Cons]

Ninja CPA Review

Wondering if Ninja CPA Review is legit?

Well you are in luck!

I've known Jeff for quite some time and have had several opportunities to chat with him via email and phone and I'm going to breakdown his CPA review course for you below.

NOTE: Before we get started, a quick disclaimer about Ninja CPA Review.

If you are here looking to find a CPA exam supplement, I don't recommend just buying Ninja as a second CPA review course.

It would over complicate your life because they use the same AICPA licensed questions as everyone else.

Watch this video to see what I mean.

Instead, I would stick with your primary course and find a supplement with questions made from scratch, mentorship that teaches you how to use your primary course, and training on how to study smarter and a mobile app to use on the go.

If that's what you are looking for, head here for a more comprehensive CPA exam support system.

With that out of the way, let's dive into the review.

Who is Ninja CPA Review?

Ninja CPA Review is masterminded by Jeff Elliott, CPA of Another71.com.

His pay by the month CPA review course includes his Ninja CPA study book + study notes + audio + a multiple choice and simulation test bank that was developed in house.

What I Like About Ninja CPA Review

The course includes a full textbook that is based on the AICPA blueprints, also includes notes that you can use to quickly review topics, includes audio of the notes + audio covering some multiple choice and BLITZ videos done by Jeff himself and digital flashcards.

According to Jeff, they also have tutoring sessions that occur four times per week, but I haven't attended any of the sessions yet as of July 2020.

I will update the review after I have, as this is a powerful feature to have and may make the subscription price alone worth it if you need academic help.

The highlight of the program is absolutely the brand new test bank that Jeff and his team put together.

It includes both multiple choice and simulations + the ability to create practice or mock exams.

Has in-depth multiple choice analytics to help you identify your strengths.

Just be aware that these questions are from the released questions by the AICPA that the majority of CPA review courses use.

If you already have a CPA review course there will be overlaps with the same questions but it's likely the explanations will be different which can provide some good perspective.

You will also have access to the Ninja Customers Only Forum which is a community where you can post questions and interact with other CPA candidates and is much more moderated than his free forum which is great to have access too!

Side note: Personally, I'm not a fan of free CPA exam forums because of the lack of moderation and it's hard to know if the advice you receive is good advice for your situation. This is why I recommend that you find a CPA exam mentor instead of leveraging the hive mind of a free forum or join a paid community like the one in Ninja CPA Review.

Finally...

It's also hard to beat the Ninja CPA Review price.

$67/month is very reasonable for the amount of resources that you receive but you also get what you pay for.

What I Don't Like

Ninja CPA Review is very affordable for what's offered, but you aren't going to see anything new or better compared to a bigger CPA review course in terms of test questions or learning technology.

Now obviously no CPA Review Course is perfect and even the established CPA review course companies make mistakes, but an observation I had in interacting with Ninja CPA Review with outdated content raised my eye brows...

During my review back in early 2019, I found a pretty blatant situation with the use of outdated video lectures included in the course.

The videos in question were the Bisk CPA Review videos created in 2016 that Ninja CPA Review had purchased, but had failed to keep up-to-date.

Obviously some of the content was still good but some of it was out-of-date due to various changes to the CPA Exam etc...

And per Jeff himself, he didn't have the bandwidth to update them so he just kept them in there and put a big disclaimer under the videos expecting students to figure out what was good vs outdated content.

In my opinion, this was a poor editorial decision because CPA Candidates don't have time to figure out what is up-to-date or not and personally if I owned a CPA review course and I found out that someone failed the CPA exam because they learned something outdated from my content (even with my big disclaimer), I would be devastated.

There is good news though.

As of June 2020, I finally convinced Ninja CPA Review to remove the outdated videos - woohoo!

I'm glad that they took action and did the right thing and proves to me that if there is an issue or content is discovered to be outdated that the Ninja team will address it.

But it still took him well over a year and multiple reminders to take this action after I pointed it out.

At the end of the day this is just my opinion and observation, if you want to use Ninja, please check his trial out first to verify for yourself that it's right for you and more robust than the CPA review course you are currently using.

Final Verdict:

Would I recommend CPA Candidates ONLY use Ninja CPA Review to study for the CPA exam?

Not at this time because of the reasons given above.

Would I recommend that CPA candidates supplement their primary CPA review course with Ninja CPA Review?

No, this is not necessary.

If you use Wiley CPAexcel, Becker CPA Review, UWorld Roger CPA Review, Yaeger CPA Review or Gleim CPA Review then you have everything you need to pass the CPA exam.

Don't complicate things by adding Ninja CPA Review to the mix just yet considering they have the exact same questions as your primary course.

A smarter idea would be to first invest in finding a mentor or a mentorship program to teach you HOW to study with the review course you currently have.

Would I recommend Ninja CPA Review if you are someone who has failed multiple times?

Maybe, but there are better options.

Adding more of the same questions isn't going to help you grasp the material better. A smarter option would be to find a mentorship + study supplement program with questions you've never seen before. Here's the one that I obviously recommend :)

Would I recommend investing in a CPA review course that bundles with Ninja CPA Review?

Not really. As I mentioned before, Ninja CPA Review uses the same questions as all the other CPA review courses that are out there. Getting Ninja CPA Review as a free addon isn't much of a value add. If anything it just creates busy work and more overwhelm as you are trying to study with two different systems at the same time.

What you really want is a CPA exam mentor to teach you HOW to study with your CPA review course, how to plan and how to execute. This is going to be what actually helps you understand the material in the time period you need to pass.
