Minnesota's (MN) CPA exam requirements are very specific relating to accounting and business courses that are required to be taken prior to sitting for the exam. Ensure that if you are not obtaining a graduate degree that you are taking the right classes in order to sit.

Education Requirements
What are the education requirements in Minnesota?
150 Hours Requirement
MN requires at least 120 hours from an accredited education institution and completion of these courses.
In MN you have 4 different education options. Refer to the course requirements below for a break out of each qualification
Candidates may apply for the exam 180 days prior to completing educational requirements.
Candidates will receive "provisional" approval to take the CPA exam 90 days prior to completing educational requirements.

Option 1: Graduate Degree
- You are automatically qualified to sit
Option 2: Graduate Degree in Business
- Requires 24 credits in undergrad accounting, auditing, tax, or mgmt accounting
- Requires 15 credit hours in graduate accounting, auditing, tax, or mgmt accounting
- OR equivalent combination
Option 3: Accounting Undergrad Degree
- Requires 24 credits in undergrad accounting, auditing, tax, or mgmt accounting
- Requires 24 credit hours of business courses
Option 4: Undergraduate Degree General

What are the age and residency requirements in Minnesota?
US Citizenship Requirement
You are NOT Required for Minnesota to be US Citizen to sit for the CPA exam.
Residency Requirement
In Minnesota, you ARE required to be a resident, employee, OR have an office in the state in order to sit for the CPA exam.
Minimum Age to Sit for the CPA Exam
Minnesota requires the applicant to be at least 18 prior to sitting for the CPA exam.

Minnesota has fairly standard exam fee rates. If you need to re-take a part there is a $50.00 re-application fee that you will have to pay.

Already Passed The CPA Exam in Minnesota? Here Are The CPA License Requirements
To obtain your CPA license MN requires:
Education:
- Complete required 150 credit hours
- Double check with MN requirements that you have completed all of these classes here
Work Experience:
- 1 year of public accounting experience, which is 2,000 hours
- Your experience must be supervised by an active CPA
- If 4 years or more has passed since obtaining your certificate, 120 CPE hours are required to become licensed.
